How CARE handles your information

This page explains, in plain language, what information the carecdm.ca website collects, why, who can see it and how long we keep it. It applies to this website only.

Last updated: September 30, 2026

1. Who we are

CARE is the trading name of Canadian Appliance Recycling Enterprises Inc., a Canadian company with its head office in Toronto, Ontario. CARE operates this website and is responsible for the personal information collected through it.

Privacy contact: [email protected]. Phone: 1-833-CARE-APL (1-833-227-3275).

2. What we collect

We only collect what you type into the quote form and what any web server records automatically.

  • Quote form: your name, email address, phone number (only if you ask for a call back), organisation, the service you are asking about, your postal code, your message and the details you choose to give (appliance types, timeline, quantities, Canoe member number).
  • Attachments you upload with the form: photos, PDF, Word or Excel files, up to 5 files of 10 MB each.
  • Server logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of the visit. These are standard technical logs used to keep the site running and to block abuse.
  • Chat assistant: messages you type into the "Chat with CARE" assistant are processed to produce an answer and are not stored by CARE.

3. Why we collect it

We use your information for one purpose: to answer your request and, if you go ahead, to deliver the service you asked for.

  • To send you a confirmation email and reply to your quote request.
  • To call you back if you chose that option.
  • To prepare a quote, schedule a delivery, installation, removal or energy upgrade, and keep the records a signed contract requires.
  • To keep the website secure and fix problems.

4. Who can see it

Your information is never sold, rented or shared for advertising.

  • CARE staff who handle your request (our coordinators, and the Canoe desk for Canoe member requests).
  • The service providers that run this website for us: the hosting provider that stores the form submissions and attachments, and the email service that sends our confirmation and notification emails. They process the data on our instructions only.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

Quote requests and their attachments are kept for up to 24 months after you send them, then deleted automatically. If your request becomes a signed contract, the records that contract requires (invoices, work orders, warranty and program paperwork) are kept for as long as the contract, the program or Canadian tax law requires.

Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider and then deleted.

6. Your rights

You can ask us at any time for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] with your name and the email address you used on the form. We answer within 30 days.

We can decline deletion only where the law or a signed contract requires us to keep a record. If we do, we will tell you why and when it will be deleted.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

7. Cookies and storage on your device

This website does not set cookies. Two settings are saved in your browser only, on your own device: the language you chose (English or French) and the text size. They never leave your device and you can remove them by clearing your browser data.

We do not run advertising trackers. If we ever turn on visitor analytics, this page will say so and explain what is measured.

8. Other CARE sites and outside links

The Canoe member portal (canoe.carecdm.ca), the shipment tracking portal (ship.carecdm.ca) and the CARE Appliances store (careappliances.ca) are operated by CARE but are separate systems with their own notices. Read the notice on each site before you sign in or order.

Links to government rebate programs or partner websites take you to sites CARE does not control.

9. Changes to this page

When we change how we handle information, we update this page and the date at the top. Larger changes will also be noted on the quote form.
